]]>October is breast cancer awareness month we like to do our part here at South Beach Swimsuits to spread awareness and support. Here are some stats to see where we stand the past year.
In 2019, an estimated 268,600 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among women (Table 1) and approximately 2,670 cases will be diagnosed in men. In addition, an estimated 48,100 cases of DCIS will be diagnosed among women. Approximately 41,760 women and 500 men are expected to die from breast cancer in 2019.
More than 3.8 million US women with a history of breast cancer were alive on January 1, 2019. Some of these women were cancer-free, while others still had evidence of cancer and may have been undergoing treatment. More than 150,000 breast cancer survivors are living with metastatic disease, three-fourths of whom were originally diagnosed with stage I-III.
©2019, American Cancer Society, Inc., Surveillance Research
Being in the know if half the battle.
Women with certain risk factors are more likely than others to develop breast cancer. A risk factor is something that may increase the chance of getting a disease. Some risk factors (such as drinking alcohol) can be avoided. But most risk factors (such as having a family history of breast cancer) can’t be avoided. Having a risk factor does not mean that a woman will get breast cancer. Many women who have risk factors never develop breast cancer.
We wear pink in honor of the survivors, the fighters, our moms, our aunts, our sisters, our friends and ourselves. Be aware, check your self and be pro active!

]]>So, I don’t really ever remember going over the true origin of Valentine’s Day in school so I decided to do a little research to see where this holiday of love started and boy was I bit surprised lol. The original Roman festival was called Lupercalia and was held every year in mid-February. This festival included the introduction of spring, fertility rite and pairing off of woman and men by a lottery… that’s right a lottery. Now I have never had any luck with the lottery so I don’t think I would have fared well at this festival. Eventually in the 5th century Pope Gelasius I replaced Lupercalia with Valentine’s Day and over the years it spawned into a true day of love, hearts, candies and plethora of pinks, reds, corals and anything else that would remind you of love and the bliss of love.
So, with some holiday knowledge, I wanted to do what we do best here at South Beach Swimsuits and show YOU our favorite valentine’s day inspired swimsuits perfect for the holiday or for anyone who truly lovesssss reds pinks and corals!

Bromelia Swimwear is an ethical swimwear line made with Rio de Janeiro soul & a touch of California style. Cheeky cuts, unique bold patterns & seamless stitching flatter and contour. This collection empowered local Brazil women through fair wages & respect for their craft. Each piece was authentically handmade by this community where swimwear is a way of life. Everyone from Vogue to W magazine is calling Bromelia Swim, the ‘must-have suit’ of the season. Here are a few of our favorites.
If you love yoga, surfing, or running on the beach, the Arpoador bikini has your name on it. Its ruched cheeky cut bottoms will leave you feeling playful; but, the support of the seamless stitching will have you breaking a sweat without having to constantly readjust. The delicate yet strong straps offer proper support without feeling like you are wearing a sports bra. And as the top is one continuous cut of fabric, there is no worry that it will come undone without you noticing! It’s the perfect blend of style and support.
This vibrant Beach Stone print comes in 2 styles! The Recreio one-piece is great from day to night. Throw on a pair of jeans over it after an afternoon at the pool and you have yourself a complete outfit for running errands or heading to a party. The Ipanema bikini is this season’s quintessential high-waisted swimsuit. Again this set is seamlessly stitched so you don’t have to worry about the awkward appearance of 4 derrières! And it is self-lined, meaning if your bottoms flip up after a dip in the ocean, you won’t have the unattractive white lining sticking out!
The luxurious cut of the Copacabana bikini comes in 6 colors: Midnight, Tide Pool Blue, Papaya Red, Terracotta, Aguarela Leaves and Sandy Palm Tree. Its thick waistline holds everything in place, creating that perfect silhouette, while the halter tie top highlights the understated sexiness of your shoulders.
Whether you are packing for a tropical getaway, heading with your girlfriends to the beach or attending a summer pool party, there is a Bromelia swimsuit there to help you make a statement.

This high thigh cut started making its debut ( return debut from the 80s that is) last year and has had a full-blown return. This high thigh cut elongates your legs and gives a super flattering style for many body shapes and sizes. This style bottom usually comes in a slightly cheeky fit or Brazilian. This style also comes in all different materials and colors across the board. The thigh high is here and I think it is here to stay for quite a while!
Animal prints are always in style in some type of capacity but this year the animal print has been taken to a new level! A lot of the animal prints have a light underlay color, that's not white, to give this style a modern look while adhering to the classic pattern! Beach Bunny and Tori Praver came out with their own take on the classic leopard print but with a light undertone of pink paired with the leopard print.
Feminine frills and lace have also made a large impact on the collections from designers for the 2019 year. With many designers opting for more delicate lacey, ruffled or sheer accents to bikinis and one piece. These swimsuits are made to make you feel extra girly and delicately sexy at the same time. These pieces are taking a style and bringing it to 2019 with various patterns and accents throughout the swimsuit to give it the extra unique look that's over the top feminine.

In this article, we’ve laid out expert advice to help you maintain and care for your swimwear. So sit back, read on, and take some notes—here’s your ultimate guide on making your swimsuits last -- season after season.
Prep time: What to do before donning your new suit
Contrary to popular belief, caring for a new bathing suit starts even before you put it on. We recommend soaking brand new pieces in a water-and-vinegar solution to prevent color from bleeding. Use a tablespoon of white vinegar for every quart of water and soak your suit for about 30 minutes.
I know it’s tempting to skip this step, but it dramatically helps in preserving color quality—especially if going to a hot tub is part of the itinerary.
Insert photo:
Some dos and don’ts during use
The things you do (or don’t do) when wearing your swimsuit can also impact how long it lasts. Here are some tips on how you can get the most out of your swimwear:
Dos:
Avoid chlorine if you can. Salt and freshwater are more forgiving than chlorinated water when it comes to your bathing suit. If you have the option to choose between the beach and the pool, give the former a go.
Sit on a towel to avoid snags and tears from rough surfaces. South Beach Swimsuits has a wide array of functional-yet-stylish beach towels for you to choose from.
Wrap up in a chic pareo or wear a cute tunic if remembering to sit on a towel is too high-maintenance for you.
Use products on your body—not on your suit. Avoid getting excess creams and oils on your swimwear to prevent chemical damage.
Don’ts:
Don’t lay out on a sunbed right after swimming. The accelerated drying process can be damaging to swimwear fabric.
Don’t expose your swimsuit to hot water. If going to the hot tub is unavoidable, it may be wise to choose your cheapest suit for the occasion.
Don’t use the same swimwear every day, as spandex needs at least a full day to snap back to its original shape.
After-care: How to wash your swimsuits the right way
There’s a proper way to clean swimwear after use. If you’re concerned about their longevity, these delicate little pieces of fabric require a lot of TLC. Follow the steps outlined below for best results:
Give it a rinse ASAP. Rinsing your swimsuit immediately after use shortens their exposure to harmful chlorine, sun cream, tanning lotion, and your body’s natural oils.
Hand washes. Using a washing machine is the fastest way to damage your swimsuit. The entire process agitates delicate padding, ties, and cups—leading to bunched and stretched parts.
With that said, handwashing is your best bet.
Use cold water and a gentle soap. Regular laundry detergent is way too harsh for swimwear. As such, we recommend that you use mild hand soap or a gentle detergent that’s formulated specifically for delicates. We also, recommend using cold water as Hot water can accelerate damage to fibers. Use a towel to dry it off. Habit might dictate you to wring out every last drop of water, but this will only lead to a saggy suit. To properly dry swimwear, lay it out on a dry towel, roll the two together, and squeeze gently. Unroll and lay it out to dry.
And there you have it, your ultimate guide to swimwear care and maintenance. Are you ready for your next beach trip? Make sure to stock up on stylish, high-quality swimwear from South Beach Swimsuits ASAP. After all, you already know how to take care of them. ☺
Weren't bikinis pretty much invented here? We've been dying to head to Brazil just to get a pick of models like Candice Swanepoel and Allesandra Ambrosio galavanting around town.
Maya Bay, Ko Phi Phi, Thai
Maya Bay Beach was the backdrop for the movie "The Beach". A picture speaks a thousand words. If Leo likes it, then I like it. Most of the island is a protected marine reserve when equates to pristine beaches and unsurpassed snorkeling and diving.
Mayan Ruins Beaches
Stunning. There is no question; this water is as blue as the water is clear in Maya Bay. Take a day to explore the cenotes and experience ultimate tranquility and an unforgettable experience.
White Haven Beach, Whitsunday Island, Australia
White Have Beach, one of the most elite beaches in Australia. It is famous worldwide for its white sand beaches. The sand comprised of 98% silica it is as soft as baby powder and stays cool to touch. Fun Fact; silica is the critical ingredient in making glass windows, jars, etc.
Elafonisi Beach
Contrary to White Haven white sand, Elafonisi Beach, located in West Create, sand is pink. On occasion, the water in the lagoon is so shallow your feet don't get wet. Therefore, this beach is excellent for families with small children. You can wade through the lagoon to an uninhabited island that is home to an abundance of different plant species, a lighthouse and a chapel. Ummm food for thought.
Bora Bora
Bora Bora, primarily known as the perfect honeymoon getaway. Stay in your private bungalow above the water, many with glass floors so you can view the exotic world under the sea. Snorkel, ride the waves or feed the stingrays. Bora Bora is one location that that should be on everyone's bucket list.

]]>A couple weeks ago we used this space to talk about some of the best beach destinations for a winter getaway. This time we’re going to assume you’ve already booked your tickets for Hawaii, Florida, or one of the other hot spots we mentioned and are ready to put the finishing touches on your itinerary before jetting off with your loved one. Now, in a nod to Cupid and Valentine’s Day, here are some tips on how to amp up the romance factor to make your trip unforgettable.
With pristine sand, turquoise waters, idyllic scenery, and perfect temperatures already in place, it doesn’t take much else to make a beach getaway romantic. But any or all of the above ideas will do the trick, so consider including them in your travel plans.

It’s vacation season. You know what that means. You need to set aside at least a week of packing, right? Wrong. We can help you end the suitcase fight, right now. Are you an over packer? Under-packer? Pack, change your mind, repack, etc. Here are some solutions to simplify and keep you sane so you can focus on your pending getaway plans.
1. Keep the shoe collection light.
Don’t jam-pack your bag with 7 pairs of shoes. I know this is inconceivable to bring less a pair for each day. All you really need is a fab neutral pair of sandals, flip flops for the pool, and a pair of sneakers. Ipanema has several casual-chic sandals that will look perfect with any of your summer outfits:
2. Fit more in one bag
Most of the airlines charge for extra bags. So, the best solution? Only bring one! Especially if you are heading to a tropical destination this is an easy one. Those flowy Summer dresses and lightweight tops can be rolled up and lined in a row. And, if you roll them up it prevents wrinkling. This will barely make a dent in your bag.
3. Get picky about your swimwear
As tempting as it is to bring every suit in your wardrobe, and we know there are many, pick the suits that you are most happy in. We all have those couple of suits that we one day dream of wearing but in reality are probably going to sit in our drawers, and our dreams...sigh. Go with the styles you are sure you love. Otherwise, they may end up just taking up space. Reversible styles are key. These can be 2-3 suits in one! Try these colorful styles from Maylana.
4. Keep your accessories neutral
As much as we would love to have different accessories for each outfit, narrow it down to a couple of neutral accessories that you can wear with most outfits. Don’t overdo the metal either. You don’t want to have to disrobe your whole body at airport security.
5. Carry On Wisely
Think of your carry on as more of an emergency kit. Our worst nightmare is the thought of arriving at a beautiful destination after a long, full flight, getting to baggage claim just to find that your bag never rounds the conveyer belt. AAAAHHHHH! Now what? Luckily you thought ahead. Pack your carry-on like a weekend bag.
The basic bathing suit rules you must follow to be happy in your swimsuit
Bathing suit season is here, which means two things — fun and relaxation at the pool or beach, and swimwear related panic attacks for many. It doesn’t have to be this way. All you have to do to feel comfortable and confident in your swimwear this summer is follow these 10 swimsuit rules.
Just like the real Ten Commandments the swimwear ten commandments are there as a basic foundation for life (or thin this case beach life) to function properly. All the other how to pick the right swimwear and style guides fall apart without these simple laws of swimwear. So we present the ten commandments of women’s swimwear.
1. Thou Shalt Not Settle When Shopping
Of course, you’ll be tempted to settle for a bathing suit that kind of fits. Trying on pieces that make you feel bigger than you actually are, feeling like it takes forever, not finding a good enough deal. These are just some of the things that make swimsuit shopping hard.
But don’t break the number one rule of looking amazing in your swimwear. Settling for a suit that’s alright will make you look alright. Get a swimsuit that you love that flatters your body and you’ll look and feel your best.
Too small bathing suit
A swimsuit that’s too small will look terrible on you. Same with one that’s too big.
Even if you don’t find anything that day keep looking until you find something that you do fall in love with. This is why shopping online for bathing suits is so useful. You don’t waste any time traveling back and forth to the store. You just log onto a site and browse.
2. Thou Shalt Weareth A Swimsuit That Fits
There are few things less attractive than a woman wearing a bathing suit that’s too small. When a bathing suit is too small you’re likely to bulge in a very unflattering way. We could go into detail describing it but we’ve all seen that one overweight woman who has no business in a string bikini. And swimsuits that are too small are simply constricting and uncomfortable.
Inversely a swimsuit that’s too big for you also won’t look good as it will look saggy and frumpy. A bathing suit should fit you snugly but not be constricting.
And don’t think just because it fit last year it will still fit this year.
Purple Tankini Bathing suit by Cole Of California
Experimenting with new styles and types of swimwear like this purple tankini is essential to find what looks best on you.
3. Thou Shalt Try New Swimwear Styles
Lots of women know what style swimsuit looks good on them. And they probably buy bathing suits that are very similar. Whether it's a halter top or bandeau bikini, a tankini or a maillot, stripes or solid prints, try something new. Look at fashion magazines and see what’s in this beach season. You never know when you’ll find a style or a type of women’s swimwear that looks better on you than you realize.
4. Honor Thy Bikini and Thy One-Piece
Women’s swimsuits aren’t like other clothing. Between the damaging rays of the sun, salt water, sunscreen, chlorine and other chemicals, your bathing suit can really take a beating. So make sure you show them some love and respect. They can’t just be thrown in a washer. They need to be taken care of to look pristine. We recently did a post on the right way to wash your bathing suit that will help you take care of them so they continue to fit and look good on you longer.
Chic and sophisticated are what you must look for in a swimsuit.
5. Thou Shalt Wear Only Sophisticated Swimsuits
When it comes to bathing suits and beachwear, the line between sophisticated and a little TOO skimpy is pretty easy to avoid. Rich colors and fun patterns are classy.
6. Thou Shalt Not Steal A Bathing Suit
Please don’t steal bathing suits. You’ll get arrested. Getting a steal on your bathing suit is ok though.
7. Thou Shalt Buy A New Bathing Suit At Least Every Other Year
The more you wear it the more your swimsuit will lose its elasticity and start to pull just like any other piece of clothing. But thanks to the spandex material, even if you take proper care of it, it will wear out faster. And because of the exposure to the sun, chlorine and salt water, the colors are much more likely to fade.
Of course, there’s also the simple fact that a new swim piece will look much better than an old one. Not to mention how you’ll look much more fashionable.
Be Sexy in your Swimwear
When it comes to swimwear go bold or go home.
8. Thou Shalt Be Bold In Your Swimwear
Bikinis and one piece swimsuits are probably the most revealing garments you’ll wear in public. They’re meant to be bold and you should too. Don’t be afraid to be a little more daring or a tad sexier than you normally would. Remember to try something new (see commandment number 3). Find a swimsuit that emphasizes your better attributes. Flaunt what you got and don’t worry about what you don’t.
9. Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor’s Bikini Body
Even if she looks like she could have been on the cover of last years Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition doesn't feel intimidated or jealous. She probably worked hard for her body and should be respected for that. And there’s no reason to be jealous as you can still look amazing in a bikini or other bathing suit. It’s just a matter of finding which ones highlight your best features and look best for you.
And if you’re still feeling jealous, don’t just want to have a body like hers, get a body like hers. Start eating healthier and exercise more. Even if you don’t wind up looking like Victoria Secret model, you’ll still feel more confident with yourself. That air of confidence will help you look even better.
10. Thou Lookest Better Than Thou Thinks In Swimwear
Lots of women feel self-conscious in their swimwear. They think they look fat or unattractive. But the fact is you look better than you think. There are even scientific studies that prove this.
